enhanced fabrics for backpacks and other essential military equipment

Extreme environments

We understand that the defence market demands an exacting specification and failsafe durability, which is why it is a sector we’re proud to specialise in. We design and produce military grade textiles for extreme environments; meeting the needs of armed forces and law enforcement to the letter.

The key to protection is problem solving. This capability runs deep through our teams, from research and development to production and stringent testing. We will exceed expectations by proactively exploring new ways to push our fabric performance beyond established parameters. It is for these exact reasons that we have been able to establish business with large contracts across the globe.

Meshes

From Load Carriage to Advanced Camouflage Solutions

Our robust load-bearing meshes are engineered for strength, durability, and versatility. Available in a variety of colors, finishes, designs, and weights, they are tailored for applications such as pocketing, breathable panels, vests, backpacks, stretchers, and hammocks. Additionally, these meshes are now being increasingly utilised in MultiSpectral (MS) Camouflage.

As warfare evolves and detection technologies advance, effective camouflage for personnel, vehicles, encampments, and weaponry must adapt accordingly. Our meshes serve as an excellent foundation for 1-layer or 2-layer camouflage nets, offering protection across the full spectrum of signature perception. They can be enhanced to guard against visual detection, NIR, SWIR, IRR, thermal imaging, radar, rot, water retention, and fire.

super-lightweight ballistic solutions for body armour and helmet linings

Body Armour

Providing optimum protection and comfort with minimal heat stress, we offer a choice of weldable ballistic envelope textiles and military spec outer shell fabrics in a range of finishes.

Always seeking the next level of protection performance, we have partnered with Honeywell Inc. to develop Spectra Fiber®; advanced, world-first super-lightweight ballistic and fragmentation solutions, alongside our spacetec® fabrics, for body armour and helmet linings.

The structure of our 3D spacers, provides a compressible air gap in equipment. This can absorb shock and dissipate the weight of heavy loads when used in backpack straps, lumber supports or ballistic plate carriers. They can include antibacterial yarns or treatments and are also incredibly durable, allow air flow, don’t get waterlogged and dry quickly.

3D spacetec® fabric

Benefits of 3D spacetec®

  • Moisture management – regulates heat and moisture to maintain the body temperature, keeping the body cool and reducing thermal burden
  • Comfort – our materials not only absorb shock and withstand high resistant pressures, but are also flexible and allow for ease of movement
  • Anti-odour performance – reduces the severity of smells either from sweating, or the environment such as smoke
  • Temperature control – our fabrics help keep the user cool or warm, depending on the environment they are in
  • Versatility – we make 2D and 3D textiles for both overt and covert body armour systems and helmets
  • DRYTEC® – surface-to-surface moisture-wicking spacer fabric designed to enhance comfort and actively take moisture away
  • Durable alternative – provides impact resistance and flexibility
  • Sustainability – the majority of spacetec® fabrics are recyclable or available in recycled versions
  • Dyeable – in-house dyeing to match any pantone or sample
  • No Delamination – our fabrics are single products

Combat Uniform

Our textiles are found in combat gear across the globe, where flame retardance and heat resistance are paramount, such as tank and air crew apparel. We aim to create optimum protection by using spacetec® and advanced fibres such as Kevlar®, NOMEX®, and Kermel®.

CBRN

Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear

CBRN fabric technology is a core proficiency of Heathcoat’s highly specialised business which includes the ability to impregnate a range of textile constructions with Chemical Warfare Agent (CWA) adsorbent compounds.

The company is proud to announce its new, PFAS-free, NeutraliZr® material for CBRN garments and decon wipes. The unique material offers unparalleled capabilities in adsorbing and detoxifying chemical warfare agents.

Praetor-FR™

Praetor-FR™ is designed to protect the user from fire damage. This world-first, ultra-durable Disruptive Print Material (DPM) is printed onto 100% aramid fibres and offers the ultimate heat and flame protection.

Unique and incredibly tough, this Praetor-FR™ fabric can also be found in the seating and suspension systems of tanks and helicopters. Alternatively, when material performance is key to survival in the harshest places on earth, our fabrics can be used for FR tent liners, hammocks and shelter sheets.
