Boney M, The Wurzels and Bucks Fizz were among the line-up of musical acts who helped Heathcoat Fabrics celebrate 200 years of manufacturing in Tiverton.
Over 5000 local families enjoyed the free event on Bank Holiday Monday, 29 August.
Heathcoat Fabrics’ managing director, Cameron Harvie said:
One of our ambitions was to give something positive back to the town after 200 years manufacturing in Tiverton, and judging by the hugely positive response the event is going to live long in people’s memories.
The people of our town have been key in our success; we have a lot to thank them for.
The main stage was the focus for many, providing outstanding music throughout the event from local, national and international bands offering rock, soul, funk and big band sounds, headlined by Boney M performing a selection of their popular hits. An acoustic stage gave local talent the chance to perform, enthusiastically received by those looking for a chance to chill whilst enjoying locally produced food and drinks.
Dannii Wood-Wright, event coordinator said:
It’s not just about the music though, we wanted to make this a fun filled event for everyone. The children’s entertainment in particular was extremely popular with young families, including magic shows, martial arts displays and balloon modelling.
For families, something which created a lot of excitement was the Wizarding Workshop, where children (and some adults too!) could learn the art of potion creation, broomstick training and wand making. There were also bouncy castles, face painting and circus skills instruction, all provided free of charge.
We have been overwhelmed by the positive response from all who came; thank you to everyone who has written, phoned or messaged on social media. We really appreciate your comments and are glad you enjoyed our Party 200; we did too!
