Mid-Devon Churches Housing Action Team, known locally as CHAT has been helping people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the local community since 1995. The organisation has seen more people than ever before approaching them for help and support over the last few months, especially in their foodbank.
In response to staff feedback through the company’s Employee Forum, Heathcoat Fabrics made a decision to support CHAT’s work this Christmas by donating luxury items for their Christmas food packs. This included items such as Cheese biscuits, Mince pies, Christmas cake, toiletries, and items for Christmas day.
Jayne Marsh-Jones, HR Manager from Heathcoat Fabrics said
“We were delighted to be able to support CHAT and the local community this Christmas. Our staff have contributed towards the food pack collection, and we were also to be able to make donations online, which are continuing.”
The Company has doubled the value of the staff contributions so far, raising our overall donation value to £4000.00
As of today, CHAT has put together 180 food packs to make the festive season just a little brighter for their clients.

During September we had our busiest month ever in the food bank and we gave out 4018 food days’ worth of food – this is a 159% increase from last year and nearly as much as during the whole of 2019. So we are very grateful to the local community for their support in these challenging times, and to Heathcoat Fabrics for partnering with us”.
